Saint Popes

Thank you to all who joined Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ for the Solemn Mass in thanksgiving for the canonization of Saint Pope John XXIII and Saint Pope John Paul II, at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland on the eve of the canonizations in Rome.

The Mass included the singing of the Te Deum, a traditional hymn of praise and thanksgiving to God that is part of a liturgy on special occasions such as the canonization of a saint.

Rev. Ray Gawronski gave the homily at the Mass, which can be heard here.

A special thank you to the Polish community of the diocese, who provided an abundant reception following the liturgy.
